Llawder's Red Wall (Llawder Zawn), Rhoscolyn

Llawder's Red Wall

The red rock of Llawder is mixture of mudstone, shale, and quartzite. It is significantly different to the rock on ‘Fallen Block Zawn’, which is predominantly compacted quartzite. Both Llawder and Fallen Block Zawn, however, form the same promontory, with Llawder being one side of the promontory and Fallen Block Zawn being the other side of the promontory. When there is a low tide, it is possible to sea level traverse along the bottom of Llawder, to access Fallen Block Zawn area.
