Castell Helen

Castell Helen is a sea cliff that is located in the South Stack area. It consists of traditional multi-pitch rock climbing, and can be accessed by abseil descents.

Castell Helen could be considered a good venue to begin your Gogarth apprenticeship. Here, climbing routes can be found in the mid-grades, being relatively safe/protectable, but set in a dramatic, picturesque environment, akin to the Gogarth environment proper.

It is not uncommon for people to agree, that Castell Helen, South Stack and the Gogarth region entirely, can yield congruity between peoples and their environments. In this way, for example, the sea can be home to grey seals and sea kayakers, all at the same time.

Likewise, the rocks can be home to sea birds, climbers, and perhaps the occasional adder snake, again, all at the same time. With the colonization of sea birds, however, there are systemic climbing restrictions to be adhered; otherwise, Castell Helen, South Stack, and the Gogarth region
per se, can be an exceptional playground for everyone.
