Like many people, I have an inherent need to both test and learn my own capabilities, and the freedom of the mountains is an ideal school for development. Indeed, where do remarkable feats of exploration and adventure begin?
After reading about Reinhold Messner’s experience on the naked mountain, Nanga Parbat, which included the first solo ascent of an 8000-meter peak, I was completely inspired, but at the same time shocked at reading about the loss of Messner’s brother, Günther, in an earlier expedition on the same mountain.
Baffled or inspired here are a few photographs from today.
