Carreg Hylldrem stands guard over a sharp bend on the A4085 Aberglaslyn-Penhyndeudraeth road. Technically, it is an overhanging cliff where the slabs are vertical and the vertical.....overhangs. It is possible to climb Carreg Hylldrem in the rain – ‘The Hyll-Drem Girdle’ takes the fault line below the overhangs. Other notable climbs include ‘The Samurai Groove’, ‘The Burner’, and the Joe Brown classic ‘Hardd’. There is also a bouldering wall (Carreg Hylldrem Bouldering) near to Carreg Hylldrem where you can warm-up in prepartion for the overhangs.
